Entrepreneur Stefan Eggenweiler appointed Senator for Economics in Bonn

Last week, Stefan Eggenweiler, owner & managing director of GEMOTEG GmbH & Co. KG, was appointed to the Senate of Economy. The award of the certificate and the associated official appointment as Senator took place during this year's Federal Convention 2020 in Bonn. The ceremony took place in the impressive plenary hall of the former Bundestag.

“It makes me very proud to be officially part of the Senate.“ says Stefan Eggenweiler about his appointment. A good year ago he was proposed anonymously as a senator by an existing member of the Senate. The Senate Board of Directors then contacted the Hechingen entrepreneur and was quickly able to inspire him with the concept of the association.

The Senate of Economy is purely oriented towards the common good and brings together important personalities from the fields of economy, science and society throughout Germany. Well-known personalities include the politicians Jean-Claude Juncker, Prof. Günther Verheugen, Prof. Klaus Töpfer and Prof. Jürgen Rüttgers. The number of members of the Senate is limited to the number of federal representatives. There are currently 709 MPs.

Together they try to implement the goals of the Senate in consultation with those responsible from business, politics, culture and the media. Above all, there is the guiding principle of John F. Kennedy: "Do not ask what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country!" The ethical principles of the Senate form the basis of the work. The work of the Senate is influenced by fairness and partnership in business life, but also the social competence of entrepreneurs and managers. With this, the Senate of Economics is reviving the traditional ideas of the Senate in antiquity.

"As the managing director of a medium-sized drive technology company from Hechingen, it is of course my goal to incorporate the Swabian mentality of small and medium-sized industrial companies into the work of the Senate," says Eggenweiler. After the award of the certificates, current topics such as "Post Corona opportunities for a sustainable economy" or "Sustainability in the management of companies" and "Dealing with the corona crisis" were discussed.
